Top Ten Tuesday – Most Anticipated Books For The Second Half of 2017

This is my first time participating in Top Ten Tuesday.  This is a weekly challenge hosted by The Brooke and the Bookish.  This week’s challenge is Top Ten Most Anticipated Books for the Second Half of 2017.  This is an easy one for me because I have many wants for the rest of the year – just have to dwindle down my list a bit! My top ten is not in any particular order, I just want them all – NOW!!!

Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab (Monsters of Verity #2)

Release Date: June 16th, 2017

I adored the first in the series, Our Savage Song, so I’ve been waiting on this one for months.  This is a duology, so this will be the last we see of these characters. The cover is lovely and matches the first perfectly.  I can’t wait to have this beauty on my shelf.  I have this one on pre-order.

Julia Defiant by Catherine Egan

Release Date: June 13th, 2017

Yet another book where I adore the first. I believe this is going to be a trilogy and this is the second book.  I highly recommend the first book.  It somehow went completely under the radar when it was released and that is a shame because it was a really solid beginning.  I’m really looking forward to this one, it left off with so many unanswered questions and lots of potential.  Pre-ordered this as well.

The Gentleman’s Gudie to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

Release Date: June 27th, 2017

I actually only recently heard about this one and how could I not get excited? The cover kind of reminds me of My Lady Jane, which happens to be one of my favorite books.  This is an LBGT novel and it looks like it’s going to be a blast.  I’ve heard it has a great sense of humor and is fast-paced.  I will certainly be reading this one this year.

Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser

Release Date: June 6h, 2017

I actually don’t know a whole lot about this book.  Other than that it has a beautiful cover and that it’s fantasy.  It’s also a debut author, which is always cool. I’ve heard some good things from reviewers I trust so I will be giving this one a shot for sure.

The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo

Release Date: September 26th 2017

This pick was EASY.  Leigh is an auto-buy author for me and I loved The Grisha Trilogy. This book takes place in the Grisha world and I believe it’s a collection of folk tales that people would’ve told to one and other about the Grisha world.  Sounds cool, it will be on my shelf.  I will likely pre-order when the time gets closer.

Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows

Release Date: September 12th 2017

Another book that I don’t know a ton about but I love the author.  Jodi Meadows was one of the authors for My Lady Jane and I’ve never read one of her solo books, so this looks like a great place to start.  Again, beautiful covers.  Publishers are knocking it out of the park lately with stunning covers.

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

Release Date:  September 26th 2017

This might be one the book I am the most curious about.  I doubt it will be the best book released this year by any means but it looks very intriguing.  I love horror/thriller novel so this is perfect.  I have to confess that I have never read Stephanie Perkins.  Yep, that means I haven’t read Anna and the French Kiss.  I think this book will be much more up my alley.

This Darkness Mine by Mindy McGinnis

Release Date: October 10th 2017

Another one I’m very curious about.  This one is a psychological thriller – again I don’t know a ton about this one.  Mindy is an auto-buy author for me so this will be pre-ordered.  One of the things I really have to give Mindy credit for is that she isn’t afraid to try different genres.  This will be her first book into the thriller genre but I have no doubt she will excel at it as per usual.  She’s written dystopian, historial fiction, fantasy and realistic contemporary.  Pretty impressive.

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Release Date: November 7th 2017

Again this is an auto-buy author for me so this will be a pre-order.  Yet another book that I don’t have a lot of details on but I believe it is about a race with super human abilities.  I’m not sure if it’s strictly fantasy or has sci-fi elements.  If I had to guess from the cover, I would say it’s going to be a cross-genre.  Cover is amazing – very cool! I think Marissa is one of the most creative YA writers out there currently.  Whether you love her or hate her, you can’t deny that she’s been bringing new stories to the table.

Because You Love to Hate Me – Various Authors

Release Date:  July 11th 2017

Last, but certainly not least we have an anthology in the mix.  How could I not want an anthology on fairy/folk takes re-imagined.  It cites that there will be new spins to tales like Jack and the Beanstalk, Sherlock Holmes and Medusa (cool!).  The author list is also very impressive – Marissa Meyer, Victoria Schwab, Adam Silvera, Nicola Yoon and many more.  If anyone is a fan of Booktuber Katytastic, she also has a story in here – which I thought was very cool to see! Can’t wait till I can get my hand on this one.  I don’t even have to wait that long!

Hope you enjoyed the list and maybe it gave you a few more books to put on that TBR!
